Had an amazing afternoon making Victoria sponge and British strawberry jam! The venue was excellent, all equipment was to a very high standard along with the teaching from Sarah. I have already recommended to lots of my friends and have already booked to return again in the next few weeks
Christmas Classics Baking and Making Day
Be prepared for a busy day of making and baking in our fully equipped, modern kitchen! This class has been designed to incorporate a range of different recipes and skills, from making proper pastry to preparing a traditional, richly fruited and luxurious festive cake making as well as mastering a yeasted, seasonal sweet bread. During the course, each student will work on making their own sweet pastry for proper mince pies, a festive fruit-studded stollen, a deliciously rich Christmas cake and will prepare their own mincemeat and marzipan too.
Each student will leave with a generously sized 7” Christmas cake big enough for at least 10 people, a large marzipan-filled stollen, 12 mince pies and a couple of jars of fruity and delicious mincemeat – the perfect start to any traditional Christmas shopping list, but this year it’ll all be made by you!
In conjunction with this course, we have an optional shorter class which will show you how to cover and ice your Christmas cake, as well as some simple decorating and sugar paste modelling techniques to make your cake truly unique. Details and dates for this course are TBC during your CCBMD class.
All course bookings are subject to our Terms and Conditions, including our cancellation policy. Please ensure that you are able to attend the date you book, as transfers and refunds will not be offered, but you are most welcome to send someone in your place. This policy is to enable us to run our courses viably and therefore maintain our high quality standards – to explain, if a student cancels and transfers to a new date and we can’t resell their cancelled place then it means we lose out on making that place available e.g. that’s one student taking two spaces but only paying for one – it just doesn’t add up!
On the rare occasion that we must cancel / reschedule a course students will be offered an alternative date or a full refund without question.

Who does this class suit:
Beginners +. This is a hands-on class which is not suitable for under 12s. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult attending the same course
Full Day - 10am - 6pm approximately, including a short break for lunch
Students take home absolutely everything they have made on the day, boxed and packaged to share with friends and family. Fees also include all equipment and high quality ingredients; an apron to use during the lesson; recipe sheets; lots of helpful hints, tips and baking advice; complimentary refreshments and a chance to taste some freshly baked produce. Lunch is not included but we can make suggestions for places where students can find a range of food options
