French Bread Making

Looking to recreate classic French recipes at home? Some French breads can take years to master and perfect, but we have developed this session to enable the home baker to produce delicious, consistent results in their own kitchens!

The class includes two kneading and three shaping techniques, working with  and using a pre-ferment, and will also help you understand how you can develop better flavour in your breads.

Recipes covered:

Fougasse – a tearable “leaf-shaped” bread

Baguettes – crusty, half-length and perfect for a domestic oven!

Brioche – rich and buttery, can be used for sweet or savoury fillings

What our clients say about this course

I was fortunate enough to attend the bread making course this year as part of a special birthday surprise. The class was small, which created a very warm and relaxed environment. It did not feel like a teaching seminar where you become just another face in the crowd, and everyone was given a chance to get stuck in and ask questions or request help; (this was especially appreciated during my disastrous baguette crisis). There was a lot of focus on ‘teaching’ as opposed to a 'monkey see, monkey do' approach. Simple explanation was given during each step in an easily understandable way, and I feel comfortable that I could transfer the skills I learned, in my own kitchen. Overall I could not fault this experience in any way – it far surpassed my expectations. Mentioning to my girlfriend that I loved the idea of learning to bake bread turned out to be a very smart move indeed!

Had an amazing day learning to bake french breads with Sarah. Beautiful clean premises and wonderful facilities. Sarah makes sure you fully understand everything before proceeding onto the next step. I had never baked bread before but now have the confidence to do it at home. Hubbie was extremely impressed with the demi-baguettes, chocolate brioche buns and fougasse that I made. Will absolutely be recommending to my friends and family. Don't hesitate to book! I certainly will again. Mum and I had a wonderful time and it was a fun and relaxed environment. Thank you Sarah x
